Today a spectacular series of convoys headed out in all directions from the Wörth Mercedes-Benz plant in Germany to the Mercedes-Benz dealerships and company-owned Daimler outlets. The event heralds the nationwide launch of the brand-new Actros truck on August 23, 2008. It was truly a sight to behold: every thirty seconds, one of the 350 or so new Actros demonstration vehicles left the biggest truck factory in the world.
Specific answers to the questions of today, prospects for the world of tomorrow: the commercial-vehicle brands of Daimler AG will be presented more attractively than ever before on four stands at the 2008 International Commercial Vehicle Show. Over 80 vehicles, including numerous world premieres, embody leadership in innovation in terms of safety, environmental compatibility and economic efficiency both in trucks and also in vans, buses, special-purpose vehicles and components.
Mercedes-Benz Buses has received a large order for 104 rural-service buses from BVO Bielefeld (Busverkehr Ostwestfalen GmbH). The Mercedes-Benz Integro models will be delivered from late summer through to the end of the first quarter in 2009. A horizontally mounted OM 457hLA straight six-cylinder engine delivering 220 kW (299 hp) will power the buses ordered. All the buses also feature BlueTec5 diesel technology which already fulfils the emission regulations that take effect in September 2009.
The new generation of Mercedes-Benz minibuses based on the Sprinter platform premiered at the International Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover two years ago. Since then, the new range has become firmly established. And it has been extended to include further models: with a choice of Sprinter Transfer, Sprinter Travel, Sprinter City or Sprinter Mobility, the range now comprises a total of twelve base models with numerous variants.
Setra Buses, a Daimler AG brand, will attain a record-setting market share of nearly ten percent in Turkey this year. By selling more than 100 units in 2008, Setra will significantly exceed its average six percent market share of the last few years. The unit sales figure includes 30 double-decker S 431 DT touring coaches.
